The Problem of Students’ Perception and Understanding of Foreign Speech on Non-Linguistic Departments

Abstract

The problem of students’ perception and understanding of foreign speech on non-linguistic departments at the university is analysed in the article. Based on the analysis of the literature were determined such terms as «foreign speech», «speech understanding» and «speech perception». It is cleared up that foreign speech plays an important role in forming of the communicative skills and abilities of personality, especially in University students. In formation of such skills and abilities should be taken into consideration the students’ psychological characteristics. It is shown that listening and speaking play an important role in formation of students’ foreign speech. Were determined the conditions and factors that affect on the perception and understanding of a text (message). In foreign language teaching should be created the preparatory work for perception of a text and chosen different types of exercises for better its understanding.
