1979 – Graduated from Moscow State University in the name of M.V. Lomonosov (Institute of African and Asian Studies, Indian Department).

1977-1978 – Student of Delhi University, Faculty of Arts, Hindi Department (India).

1979-1983 – Post graduate student of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Institute of Oriental Studies).

1984 – Candidate of Philological Sciences. Dissertation thesis: “Vocalism and word rhythmics structure in Hindi: synthetic speech experiment”.

2001 – Doctor of Philological Sciences. Dissertation thesis: “Psycholinguistic mechanisms and methods of speech formation”.

2005 – Doctor of Psychological Sciences. Dissertation thesis: “Psychology of foreign languages teaching (psychotherapeutic approach).

2008 – Awarded the status of Professor.

Academic activities

Read lectures and conducted workshops in the universities of: San Francisco (USA, 1991), Oxford (England, 1994), Heidelberg (Germany, 1996), Bordeaux (France, 1998), Utrecht (Netherlands, 2000), Illinois (USA, 2001).

Took part in a number of International conferences, including: International Congress of Oriental Researches (1990, Czechoslovakia), Modern Language Association (1991, USA), Global Talks on Language and Literacy (1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, Great Britain, Germany, France, Holland), International Conference on Cognitive Science (2006, 2008, 2012, Russia), etc.

Was a member of some Organizing Committees and Editorial Boards.  

The author of more than 200 publications, including: 5 monographs, 2 textbooks, 1 vocabulary and 7 education manuals.
