Pejoratives in language of ukrainian periodicals
Abstract
The research analyzes lexical items that give negative shades to the texts of Ukrainian periodicals, characterizes them by thematic groups, marks new lexical and semantic expressions of lexical items, which were activated under the influence of extra-linguistic factors.
The main methods, observation and descriptive, are used in scientific research for the study of vocabulary in the language of Ukrainian periodicals at the beginning of the XXI century. At different stages of the research, the method of functional analysis was used to determine the stylistic load of lexical items.
It is concluded that there is an intensive formation of pejoratives in the media language of the beginning of the XXI century. This is due primarily to the search for new and extraordinary expressive, figurative, evaluative and nominative means. Pejoratives perform an evaluative and expressive function in the language of modern journalism.
